North Las Vegas Spreads Its 2026 Holidays Across Its Rec Centers, Craig Ranch and a Resource Hub

November 5, 2026

On the morning of Saturday, December 19, the City of North Las Vegas has three holiday events on its calendar within about three hours. At 8 a.m., the Annual Toy Giveaway starts at the Dolores Huerta Resource Center on Hunkins Drive and runs until supplies last. At 10 a.m., Holly Jolly Morning opens at Silver Mesa Recreation Center & Pool on Allen Lane with breakfast, toys and entertainment. Pre-registration is required and the fee is $3. At 11 a.m., the 2026 Third Annual Pool Plunge begins at the Silver Mesa Activity Pool at the same address. It is for ages 8 and up and costs $3.

None of the three is at Liberty Park, which is the clearest sign of how the city changed its holiday calendar this year. In 2025, Liberty Park on Las Vegas Boulevard North hosted the turkey giveaway, the tree lighting and the toy giveaway. In 2026, the season is spread across Silver Mesa, SkyView, the Neighborhood Recreation Center, Craig Ranch Regional Park and the Dolores Huerta Resource Center. The three recreation centers each have their own Thanksgiving meal, and every venue has its own December events and fees. The closest version of the holidays now depends on which part of the city you live in.

The giveaways moved to the resource center

Last year, the city's Celebrate the Holidays roundup listed the Turkey Giveaway and Resource Fair on November 22 at Liberty Park, with free turkey and bread for the first 500 households. It listed the Toy Giveaway on December 20 at the same park, for kids ages 1 to 15 who had to be present.

This year, the Annual Turkey Giveaway & Resource Fair is listed for Saturday, November 21, from 8 a.m. until supplies last. The Annual Toy Giveaway follows on Saturday, December 19, on the same terms. Both are at the Dolores Huerta Resource Center, 1737 Hunkins Drive. The new location fits the event. The city celebrated the center's opening on April 22, 2025, and describes it as a one-stop hub offering free education, health, legal, technology, workforce and cultural resources. A giveaway billed as a resource fair now takes place in a building that offers resources year-round.

Liberty Park is still in use. A May 2026 city newsletter reported that North Las Vegas held its 80th-anniversary celebration there on May 2. The holiday events, though, have spread out to the recreation centers.

Thanksgiving week now has one meal per rec center

In 2025, the city held two Feast of Gratitude meals. One was at Silver Mesa on November 15 for $2 a person, and the other was at the Neighborhood Recreation Center on November 18. This year, three recreation centers each have a differently named meal on three straight days, and SkyView adds a pool event.

Venue Event Date and time Listed fee
Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane Grateful Hearts Feast Thursday, Nov. 19, 4–7 p.m. $5, preregistration required
Neighborhood Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St. Thanksgiving Gratitude Gala Friday, Nov. 20, 4–6 p.m. Registration link on city page
SkyView Multi-Generational Center, 3050 E. Centennial Parkway Harvest & Harmony Thanksgiving Dinner Saturday, Nov. 21, 4–7 p.m. $5
SkyView Activity Pool, 3050 E. Centennial Parkway 2026 First Annual Great Turkey Drive Saturday, Nov. 21, 1–3 p.m. $2, all ages

That makes Saturday, November 21, the busiest day of Thanksgiving week. The turkey giveaway opens at 8 a.m. on Hunkins Drive, the Great Turkey Drive runs at the SkyView pool in the early afternoon, and the Harvest & Harmony dinner starts at SkyView at 4 p.m. The Silver Mesa meal costs a few dollars more than last year, going from $2 in 2025 to $5 for the Grateful Hearts Feast.

Silver Mesa hosts the most December events

Once the Thanksgiving meals are done, the calendar shifts toward Silver Mesa on Allen Lane, which has the longest December list in the city:

  • Handmade Holiday Workshop, Tuesday, Nov. 17 and Tuesday, Dec. 15, 5–7 p.m. Registration is required and the fee is $12 per session.
  • Starry Night Senior Ball, Thursday, Dec. 17, 4–6 p.m. The fee is $5 and preregistration is required.
  • Holly Jolly Morning, Saturday, Dec. 19, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., with breakfast, toys and entertainment for $3.
  • 2026 Third Annual Pool Plunge, Saturday, Dec. 19, 11 a.m.–1 p.m., at the Silver Mesa Activity Pool. It is for ages 8 and up and costs $3.

Two dates moved. The Pool Plunge was on December 6 last year and is now on December 19, the same day as Holly Jolly Morning. Last year's senior dance, the Senior Winter Ball, was also on December 6 at Silver Mesa for $5. This year, the Starry Night Senior Ball moves to a Thursday late afternoon in the week before Christmas. A household that wants both the plunge and the breakfast can now do them in one trip.

SkyView and Bruce Street have their own Decembers

Families who live closer to Centennial Parkway have a shorter trip. SkyView Multi-Generational Center has Cocoa & Crafts on Saturday, December 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $5. The following Saturday, December 12, SkyView hosts the Nutty Nutcracker Breakfast from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., also for $5, with registration through the city. Last year, the city's only listed holiday breakfast was Breakfast with Santa at Silver Mesa. This year, SkyView has a breakfast of its own a week before Silver Mesa's.

The Neighborhood Recreation Center on North Bruce Street has two events in December. Passport Palooza: A Journey Around the World is on Friday, December 4, from 4 to 6 p.m., with registration through the city. Santa's North Pole Party follows on Friday, December 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. It takes the place of last year's Tacos with Santa, which the center held on December 16, 2025.

Craig Ranch gets the free weekend events

Craig Ranch Regional Park, at 628 W. Craig Road, has two holiday events this year, and both are free.

The Ugly Sweater Run is on Saturday, December 12, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The city lists it as free to participate, with registration through the park office at 702-633-2418 or online. In 2025, the same 3K/5K fun run cost $5 per person and came with a free elf hat. It runs on the same morning as the Nutcracker breakfast at SkyView, so a family could do the run at Craig Ranch at 9 and get to the breakfast before it ends at 1.

Eight days later, Shop and Seek is on Sunday, December 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. The city calls it a free community event for stocking up on goodies while supporting local sellers. It is the last holiday event on the city's December calendar. It comes one day after the toy giveaway, the plunge and Holly Jolly Morning, and the evening hours leave time for last-minute gifts from local sellers.

Signing up for the calendar

Spreading events across more venues means more registrations to keep track of. Most of the paid events cost between $2 and $12, and several require registration ahead of time. These include the Grateful Hearts Feast, the Handmade Holiday Workshops, the Starry Night Senior Ball and Holly Jolly Morning. Last year, some meals were capped at the first 200 or 300 people to register. The full month is on the city's December 2026 events calendar, and each event has its own page with the fee and any registration details.
